How to Bring Dry Summer Hair Back to Life

Summertime in the sun and chlorine can really damage your hair.  Use these tips to hydrate, add shine, and bring your locks back to life.

1.USE A MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER

To help your hair recover from the drying effects of summer, you can use a moisturizing conditioner consistently for a few weeks.  Be patient!  Your hair won’t return to the way it was before summer in just one use.  We recommend OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Conditioner or Redken All Soft Heavy Cream Super Treatment

2. USE A HYDRATING MASK

If your hair feels dry and  crunchy, you should try a hydrating mask.  An intense mask can help restore moisture and make your hair easier to style.  We’re huge fans of Moroccan Oil Masque.  Use it weekly for best results.

3. RESTORE YOUR COLOR

You might want to invest in a salon appt for a gloss or glaze treatment to help restore your hair color.  It’s more affordable than getting a full color and will restore your color while adding shine.

4. BE GENTLE

We all know damaged hair can be DIFFICULT to detangle. Please be gentle when you comb out those knots.  If not, it can cause your hair to break.  I recommend using a wide-tooth comb or a new brush I’ve recently been using called The Wet Brush.

5. TREAT YOUR HAIR TO A TRIM

It’s the best way to get rid of your split ends and give your hair a fresh reboot.

6. RINSE WITH COOL WATER

This little trick helps make the cuticle lay flatter which makes your hair look shinier and healthier.

7. CONDITION WITH OLIVE OIL

We love this inexpensive at home trick.  Just warm up 1/2 cup olive oil and rub it into your hair.

8. TAKE A BREAK FROM THE HEAT

Flat irons, hair dryers, and curling irons all create more damage to the hair.  Take a break and let your hair air dry. If you must use them, try using a heat defense spray to protect your hair.  We love Paul Mitchell Soft Style Heat Seal.
